# SaaS vs. on-premise

> Choosing between the hosted Oximy SaaS and a self-hosted deployment.

Sidekick runs as hosted SaaS at app.oximy.com, or on-premise, deployed into your own environment. Both are the same product: the same threads, governance, and placements. What differs is who runs the infrastructure underneath.

| | SaaS | On-premise |

| Setup | None, start using it directly | Deployed and operated by your team |
| Model routing | Managed by Oximy | Runs through your own gateway and provider accounts |
| Best fit | The fastest path to a shared, governed workspace | Environments that need full control of infrastructure and data residency |

Most teams start with SaaS. On-premise is for organizations whose infrastructure or data residency requirements call for a self-hosted deployment.

For deployment models and the infrastructure boundaries behind each one, see [Deployment](/docs/platform/deployment). For the data and access questions to work through before either path, see [Security and privacy](/docs/platform/security-privacy).
